Vạn
lý tình
Huy Cận
Người ở
bên trời, ta ở đây;
Chờ mong phương
nọ, ngóng phương nầy.
Tương tư đôi
chốn, tình ngàn dặm,
Vạn lý sầu
lên núi tiếp mây.
Nắng đã xế
về bên xứ bạn;
Chiều mưa trên
bãi, nước sông đầy.
Trông vời bốn
phía không nguôi nhớ,
Dơi động hoàng
hôn thấp thoáng bay.
Cơn gió hiu hiu
buồn tiễn biệt,
Xa nhau chỉ biết
nhớ vơi ngày.
Chiếu chăn không
ấm người nằm một,
Thương bạn,
chiều hôm, sầu gối tay.

Love
From Ten Thousand Miles
by Huy Cận
You are over the horizon,
I am here, so far away;
Expecting from that
direction, looking over this way.
We are both lovesick
of a love that sets us thousands of miles apart
And the ten-thousand-mile
sorrow joins the mountains and clouds in part
Sunrays have declined
towards the place where you reside;
The afternoon rain
falls on the river’s bank when it is at high tide
Looking over in
the four directions does not diminish my thinking of you now,
When startled night
bats are flying, disappearing and appearing, all around.
The wind seems to
lightly caress the sadness of the farewell saying
To lessen the distance
between us means to revert to day counting.
Mats and blankets
cannot keep a lonely body warm in bed,
To sleep at night,
missing you, I tuck my arm, in sorrow, under my head.
